All Ages Back to School Blessing

All Ages Back to School Blessing

As many within our church and surrounding community return to school this month, we want to take a Sunday to pray for and bless the physical stuff of our educational lives.

We welcome students of all ages, as well as teachers and school staff, to bring an object to be blessed at the 10am service on the 17th – whether a backpack, a computer, a textbook, or anything else you might depend on in your role. With or without an object to bring, come! - we will have a blessing for you.

Sunday, September 17th at the 10am service.

St. Laurence Kids

St. Laurence Kids

St. Laurence Kids takes place on Sundays during the family Eucharist.

This year, there will be two groups. The younger group is intended for preschool-4/5th grade and uses Godly Play, a curriculum using story, ritual, and wonder to help kids experience God.

The older, or Jr. Youth, group is for kids 5/6-9th grade and uses a curriculum exploring the connections between faith and justice.

All kids will be together until our Jr. Youth group separates later in September; in the meantime, we are still looking for 1-2 people to help hold this important space. Let Jason know if you are interested!

PWRDF 'Wild Ride'

PWRDF 'Wild Ride'

Recently a variety of “Wild Ride” events have been held by Anglican churches across Canada.
The funds raised from events support the very important work of PWRDF and their partners in assisting refugees or internally displaced persons in countries such as Tanzania, South Sudan, Jordan, Ukraine and more.

On Saturday September 23 we have been invited to join the parishioners from St. John’s Maple Ridge in a “Wild Ride” walk along the dike in Pitt Meadows. Ross and I will be walking and look forward to having others from St. Laurence join us.

Meeting Place: Osprey Village – Pitt Meadows
– In front of the “Stomping Ground Café and Bistro”
10931 Barnston View Rd. Time: 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
There is plenty of parking.

Please contact Pat Sharpe by e-mail at sharpe_pat@yahoo.ca or phone at 604-219-9352 if you have any questions or are interested in participating.

PWRDF In-Canada Emergency Response Fund

PWRDF In-Canada Emergency Response Fund

In this year of unprecedented wildfires from coast to coast, PWRDF launched an In-Canada Emergency Response Fund.
In recent years, Canada has experienced an increase in the frequency and severity of natural disasters such as wildfires, hurricanes and floods affecting thousands of families and individuals. PWRDF has accepted donations when a disaster happens, but this new fund will allow PWRDF to respond quickly when a diocese asks for support rather than wait to raise funds for individual disasters.

You can donate directly to the In-Canada Emergency Fund at any time.
Donations can be made directly to PWRDF on their website or by phone at 1-866-308-7973 or you can make a donation to St. Laurence indicating you wish the money to go to the PWRDF IN- Canada Emergency Response Fund.
