Your 2026 Pledge and 2025 Year End Gift

Dear St. Laurence Community,

On Sunday, you received an important invitation in your service bulletin about our 2026 Pledge Campaign and Year-End Appeal. If you're reading this email and were not in church, the full package is attached.

November has been full - All Souls, All Saints, Remembrance Sunday. Now we turn our attention to another essential aspect of our parish life: the financial partnership that sustains and grows our shared ministry.

What we're inviting:
  1. Your 2026 Pledge - an intention for regular giving that helps us plan wisely for the year ahead (forms due December 15; we'll celebrate pledges together November 23)
  2. Your Year-End Gift - if you're able, a one-time gift before December 31 to help close 2025 strong

What you need to know:

We're finishing 2025 with an operating shortfall of approximately $35,000. We'll draw from reserves to bridge the gap, but reserves are limited and cannot sustain repeated deficits. To flourish as we're called to, we need to grow both our donor base and our level of giving.
In 2026, your generosity will support Sunday Evening Worship, robust online ministry, expanded outreach, and a Centre for Spiritual Renewal - ministries that are ready to grow, with funding as the primary limiter.

The full letter explains:
  • Our financial reality and how we're addressing it
  • What your pledge makes possible
  • How to participate (including e-transfer to office@saintlaurence.ca - our preferred method as 100% goes to ministry)
  • What pledging means if you're new to St. Laurence

This is a team effort. I'll be participating in both the pledge campaign and year-end appeal, as will others in leadership. We're asking everyone to prayerfully consider what faithful partnership looks like for you in this season.

Most importantly: please be informed. Read the letter. Understand where we are and where we're headed. Then respond as you're able and called - through your pledge, your year-end gift, or simply through informed prayer for our parish.

This is our threshold moment - first year in a renewed building, with clarity on our priorities and momentum building. We're not managing decline but investing in flourishing.

If you can, I would be thrilled if you would join us, as you are able.

With gratitude,
Philip+

Advent Sessions

Advent Sessions

Searching for Emmanuel

An Advent Series with Archbishop John Stephens

Spend four Tuesday evenings in Advent taking a journey with the pilgrim characters of the season: Mary, Elizabeth, Joseph, and John the Baptist. Archbishop John will offer teaching on their stories and the Prologue from the Gospel of John, with small group discussion using scripture, image, song, and poetry to help us deepen our own pilgrim journeys.

When: Tuesday evenings, November 25–December 16
Time: 7pm on Zoom
Register: HERE

Lighting the Way: An Advent Vigil with Rev Philip

Join our Rector, Philip, this Advent for a season of intentional prayer and reflection as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ.

~ Morning Prayer (November 30–December 24, 8am weekdays)
Each weekday morning, Philip will be leading Morning Prayer on our YouTube channel. It will be gently liturgical in shape to guide our prayer together. Each session includes biblical reflection and a time for open prayer. You can join live or watch the recording whenever it fits your schedule. Submit prayer requests in the comments section.

~ The Advent Candles (Mid-week at 7:30pm)
Midweek throughout Advent, we'll gather for themed reflections on Youtube exploring each of the Advent candles (Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love) using each week's theme as the basis for Evening Prayer. We'll conclude each evening with a time of Examen, an ancient practice of prayerful reflection (don't worry, he will explain how it works!).

Whether you join daily or occasionally, these evergreen offerings are designed to help us keep the ancient discipline of Advent. Let's light the way together toward Christmas.
