Annual Vestry this Sunday
This Sunday will be a little different. Instead of our two usual services, we gather for one service at 10:00 AM. After a short refreshment break in the Parish Hall, we move straight into our Annual Vestry Meeting. Simple. Unhurried. Together. One thing I want to name honestly. I would have preferred to hold the meeting in the sanctuary, where our hearing loops are. Meeting in the Hall will make it harder for some to hear, and I am sorry for that. We want everyone fully present in the room and in the conversation. To help you come prepared, I have put together two documents: A one-page visual overview of our finances, our vision, and the priorities we are investing in for the year ahead. A fuller paper in three parts: a message from me about where I believe we are heading, a plain-English guide to the parish finances, and a summary of last Sunday's Financial Briefing Meeting. Both are in the Members Access. Printed copies will be available on Sunday morning. But what is most on my mind this week is not the agenda. I am thinking about you. About how this community responded last year when support was needed, and what that response revealed. Not just generosity. Identity. I am thinking about the families we have not yet met. The people who will find us online before they ever walk through our doors. The Sunday evenings that are not yet part of our rhythm, but will be. Something is shifting at St. Laurence. Not dramatically. Not loudly. But steadily. I believe Sunday is part of that. Your presence matters.
See you at 10 AM on Sunday…

Through Scripture, Wisdom stories, and our own experiences we will seek the grace, vision, insights, even joy to nourish the stability of our souls in the midst of all that troubles us now Come spend a wonderful weekend in a beautiful and relaxed environment. This retreat is an opportunity to reconnect with ourselves, find community in each other, and enjoy great food, with time for reflection, fun and laughter. She is a Storyteller and Teaching Artist and retreat leader. This is a women's event, so feel free to invite a friend, sister, mother - any woman you would like to share a retreat experience with. Parish Community Events
Events that are planned for community building and enjoyment are an important part of the life of a parish. In the past at St. Laurence, we have enjoyed barbeques, Easter Sunday lunches, hoe-downs, chilli and pie making contests, trivia nights and movie nights. All events planned for participation by people of all ages. We would like to host more of these events and are looking for people to help with the planning and implementation. If you are interested, please speak with Erin Barr or contact Curt in the office. (office@saintlaurence.ca) We will begin with an initial planning session to brainstorm ideas. |
