Ministry of Welcome: Join the Coffee Team
One of the things people notice first about St. Laurence is that they are welcomed, not just greeted. Our coffee time after the service is a real part of that: it is where folk start talking, friendships grow, and people who walked in as strangers begin to feel at home. None of that happens by itself. It happens because a team of people give their time to make it so, and we are looking for a few more to join them. We need at least one more helper to lead a team (we will show you the ropes) and a handful more willing hands to be part of a group that, every five or six weeks, comes early to set up, stays a wee bit longer to tidy up, and brings something to share. One of our team put it well this week: the friendship that comes from working together has itself become a place of belonging. If helping people feel at home sounds like your kind of thing, or if you want to know more, get in touch with Sylvia Wallis during coffee time or contact the office. |
