Ministry of Welcome: Join the Coffee Team
One of the things people notice first about St. Laurence is that they are welcomed, not just greeted. Our coffee time after the service is a real part of that: it is where folk start talking, friendships grow, and people who walked in as strangers begin to feel at home. None of that happens by itself. It happens because a team of people give their time to make it so, and we are looking for a few more to join them. We need at least one more helper to lead a team (we will show you the ropes) and a handful more willing hands to be part of a group that, every five or six weeks, comes early to set up, stays a wee bit longer to tidy up, and brings something to share. One of our team put it well this week: the friendship that comes from working together has itself become a place of belonging. If helping people feel at home sounds like your kind of thing, or if you want to know more, get in touch with Sylvia Wallis or contact the office; office@saintlaurence.ca or 604-936-5423. |

Altar Guild: Call for Volunteers
Would anyone like to join the Altar Guild? We aim to have four or five groups of two, so that each person only has to prepare the sanctuary every four or five weeks. If you are interested, please see Terry Newell, or contact the church office. |

Easter 2026 AppealSupporting the Diocese of Jerusalem through Alongside Hope This Easter, we are inviting the parish to support the Gaza and West Bank Emergency Appeal from Alongside Hope, one of our parish partners and the Anglican Church of Canada’s agency for relief and development. The appeal serves the Anglican Diocese of Jerusalem: our own sisters and brothers, living and ministering in the very lands where Jesus lived, died, and rose. As war engulfs the wider Middle East, Anglican hospitals there continue to heal. Anglican schools continue to teach. Anglican communities continue to hold the line for peace. Not because the violence has stopped, but because the resurrection says that life does not wait for permission. Please donate through St. Laurence so we can track our collective effort and share the difference we make together. For more information about the appeal and the work of the Anglican Diocese of Jerusalem. please speak with a member of the clergy or visit the parish office. |
Keeping notices light and focused
We’ve heard that our Sunday announcements can feel a bit long. We still want to share parish news, but we’ll keep notices shorter and only for St. Laurence events and activities. If you’d like something included, please email the office by Tuesday for the Sunday service bulletin or Thursday lunchtime for a spoken notice. Wardens will help shape and trim what’s shared. This small change is to keep notices clear, kind on our attention, and in tune with our worship. |
