Advent Sessions

Searching for Emmanuel

An Advent Series with Archbishop John Stephens

Spend four Tuesday evenings in Advent taking a journey with the pilgrim characters of the season: Mary, Elizabeth, Joseph, and John the Baptist. Archbishop John will offer teaching on their stories and the Prologue from the Gospel of John, with small group discussion using scripture, image, song, and poetry to help us deepen our own pilgrim journeys.

When: Tuesday evenings, November 25–December 16
Time: 7pm on Zoom
Register: HERE

Lighting the Way: An Advent Vigil with Rev Philip

Join our Rector, Philip, this Advent for a season of intentional prayer and reflection as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ.

~ Morning Prayer (December 1 –December 24, 8am weekdays)
Each weekday morning, Philip will be leading Morning Prayer on our YouTube channel. It will be gently liturgical in shape to guide our prayer together. Each session includes biblical reflection and a time for open prayer. You can join live or watch the recording whenever it fits your schedule. Submit prayer requests in the comments section.

~ The Advent Candles (Mid-week at 7:30pm)
Midweek throughout Advent, we'll gather for themed reflections on Youtube exploring each of the Advent candles (Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love) using each week's theme as the basis for Evening Prayer. We'll conclude each evening with a time of Examen, an ancient practice of prayerful reflection (don't worry, he will explain how it works!).

Whether you join daily or occasionally, these evergreen offerings are designed to help us keep the ancient discipline of Advent. Let's light the way together toward Christmas.

Christmas at St. Laurence

Christmas at St. Laurence

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 14

Holy Eucharist | 9:00 AM
A small, quiet communion service in the Rector's office to make space for pageant preparations in the sanctuary. All welcome.

The Christmas Story: All-Ages Pageant | 10:00 AM
Our beloved annual tradition returns! A heartwarming, participatory telling of the nativity for all ages and stages. Presented in partnership with Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Come as shepherds, angels, or simply yourself—everyone belongs in this story.

Community Christmas Big Sing | 7:00 PM
Raise your voice and sing favourite Christmas carols with neighbours from across the Tri-Cities. Our amazing choir will lead the way, but this is everyone's night to sing. No tickets, no performance—just joy, harmony, and community.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 21

Blue Christmas: Light in the Darkness | 7:00 PM
When you can't be merry. A quiet service for those facing the season alone, sad, or struggling. You don't have to pretend here. We'll gather in candlelight to acknowledge grief, loneliness, and the weight some of us carry into Christmas. This service makes space for what is, not what we're told we should feel.

CHRISTMAS EVE | WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 24

A Joyful Family Christmas | 4:00 PM
A carol-filled service with storytelling and communion, designed with children (and the young at heart) in mind. Arrive early at 3:30 PM for Christmas crafts in the parish hall - make a craft, colour, and settle in before the service begins.

Traditional Candlelight Eucharist | 9:30 PM
A beautiful, reflective service of lessons, carols, and candlelight as we welcome Christmas at its threshold. Join us at 9:00 PM for a carol sing-along before the service begins, warm up your voice and your heart.

CHRISTMAS DAY | THURSDAY, DECEMBER 25

Christmas Eucharist | 10:00 AM
Celebrate the birth of Christ with us on Christmas morning. A festive, joyful service of communion and carols. Come in your pajamas, come with family, come alone - however you arrive, you're welcome here.

ALL ARE WELCOME

No matter where you are in your journey, whether you're a lifelong Anglican, exploring faith for the first time, or simply looking for a place to belong this season, there's a place for you at St. Laurence.
