These instructions will allow you to connect your smart phone to the Saint Laurence Listen Hearing Aid network which broadcasts the audio from the sound system.

Step 0. This is a one time activity. If you haven’t downloaded the Listen app to your phone, go to the Google Play Store (android phones) or Apple App Store (apple devices) and search for the ListenWIFI app. This is a free app for connecting to the LISTEN network.

Connecting to the LISTEN network at Saint Laurence.

Step 1. If you have applications on your smart phone that interact with your hearing aids via bluetooth, then those applications may still be running in the background on your phone and may interfere with connection to the Listen network. The best way to insure that there is no interference is to power off your phone and then turn it back on.

Step 2. Put the phone on airplane mode. This insures that the cellular network doesn’t block your connection to the WIFI network.

Step 3. Open up the WIFI settings on your phone and turn on WIFI (if it is not active from airplane mode). With the WIFI on, search for the LISTEN network and connect to it. There will be a warning that there is no connection to the internet. This is not a problem.

Step 4. Open the Bluetooth settings on your phone and insure that your phone is connected via bluetooth to your hearing aids.

Step 5. Open the ListenWIFI app. The app should connect to the LISTEN network. If it comes up with a VENUE SCAN screen and says that it can’t connect, try shutting down the app (stopping it, not just exiting for it) and restarting the app. When the app is connected to the network there will be a screen with two channels showing. Click on Channel 1 and you should start hearing sound from the application.

If you can’t connect to the network see me at the audio desk. Insure you come early before the service starts in order to have time to trouble shoot any issues.
