Lenten Morning Prayer: A Practice of Patient Presence
Weekdays at 8:00 AM | February 18 - March 27, 2026
Livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook
God meets us where we are. One day at a time.
Join us each weekday morning throughout Lent for Morning Prayer - a 30-minute contemplative liturgy to begin your day grounded in scripture, silence, and community.
Led by Rev. Philip Cochrane, these daily services offer:
Whatever you are carrying from the world today, you are welcome here. God meets us where we are. That is what we have come to discover together, one day at a time.
This Lent, we've chosen the Great Blue Heron as our visual companion for Morning Prayer.
If you've walked the trails along the Coquitlam River or our local waterways, you've likely encountered these magnificent birds. They stand perfectly still in the shallows, embodying watchful patience as they wait for the right moment.
The heron teaches us what Lent asks of us:
As a bird native to the lands of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) and q̓icə̓y̓ (Katzie) peoples where we gather, the heron also grounds our Lenten practice in this specific place - reminding us that spiritual discipline isn't abstract, but rooted in the land beneath our feet and the creatures who share it with us.
This Lent, we practice being herons: standing still in the current, watching, waiting, trusting that the Life-Light will sustain us.
