"Raising Hearts to Remember" Reconciliation Event
Saturday, May 7, 9am to Noon St. John's Port Moody invites parishioners from St. Laurence to join them in their Parish Hall for a “Raising Hearts to Remember” session. This is a diocesan project in which we have been asked to participate. During this time you will be taught the craft of felting a heart. This will also be a time of discussion around the Residential Schools. These hearts will hang from a tanned salmon skin Wheel of the Four Directions at the Synod Office. This is a creative way to honour the children in gravesites found across Canada, but particularly at Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc. If you are interested and/or to RSVP, please speak with Anne Anchor or contact her at deacon@stja.ca. Kid's Church
Upcoming Sundays With the loosening of COVID restrictions, it feels like it's time for us to change our pattern for gathering. Starting this Sunday, we will no longer be gathering at 9:30 online. Instead, we will gather in-person from 10:30-11:10am in the parish hall. Those of you who want to join in the 10:30 service are welcome to drop your kids off in the hall, and they can join you in the sanctuary after St. Laurence Kids is done. Those of you who don't yet feel comfortable gathering in-person can drop your kids off, grab a coffee, and return to pick up your kids at 11:10. We will have at least 2 adults hosting St. Laurence Kids in the hall, and our aim is to allow for breakout groups for older and younger kids. You can expect a mix of song, prayers, Bible story, and a craft or other activity. I am hopeful that this new rhythm will allow us to make the transition in-person, while also recognizing the different places each of our families are at. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to let me know.
Children's Service On Sunday, May 15, the kids of St. Laurence will be leading the service at 10am (one service that day). If you are a child, youth, or family of a child or youth who would like to be involved, please let our Youth and Families Minister know as soon as possible - as well as whether you would be comfortable with being involved in-person or virtually (most likely something pre-recorded). The headtime will help us better plan how to involve as many folks as possible. Jason stlyouthandfam@gmail.com |
