St. Laurence Anglican Church
News and Notes October 26, 2025
All Saints and All Souls Day

All Saints and All Souls Day

Sunday, November 2 at 6 PM

A new development at St Laurence offers a quiet, reflective service (not Eucharistic) for anyone wishing to remember loved ones who have died. All are invited to bring photos or tokens of loved ones to place on the altar, and there will be an opportunity beforehand to add names for the prayers.

Someone will be available for prayer if desired. It doesn't matter how long ago your loved one died; this service provides a sacred space to remember, give thanks, and find peace. Everyone is welcome.

Which Prayer Gets Answered?

In recent weeks, the Anglican Communion has been shaken by two major developments - the end of Living in Love and Faith in the Church of England and the announcement by GAFCON leaders of a rival Anglican network. For many, these events stir grief and questions about who we are and who we include.

This Sunday’s Gospel (Luke 18:9–14) - the Pharisee and the tax collector - offers a piercing lens for reflection. As we consider who claims to speak for “true” Anglicanism and who bears the cost of exclusion, Jesus’ parable reminds us that God’s mercy and justice often turn our expectations upside down.

Here at St Laurence, our calling remains steady: to be visible as a community where all are welcomed, affirmed, and able to serve.
