Ninth Sunday after Pentecost

Welcome to St Laurence Anglican Church in Coquitlam.

This Sunday we celebrate the Patronal Festival of St Laurence - our namesake and one of the early Church’s most courageous witnesses of love.

Our Rector, the Rev. Philip Cochrane, reflects on the life of Deacon Laurence, who in the year 258 turned a Roman official’s greed upside down by naming the poor, the sick, and the excluded as the true treasure of the Church. This morning's sermon, “Diakonia: Love in Action”, connects Laurence’s vision with our own parish journey — from worshipping in the parish hall last year to returning to our renewed sanctuary. Our space now embodies a four-fold vision: UP – towards God in worship IN – building an inclusive community OUT – serving the world OF – belonging to the wider Church You’ll also hear a live interview with our deacon, Rev. Pat, about what diaconal ministry looks like here in the Tri-Cities - and how we can make our outward ministries more visible and central to our life together.

Readings: Daniel 3:19-27 2 Corinthians 9:6-10 Luke 14:12-14
