Employment Opportunities at St. Laurence
St. Laurence Anglican Church is a growing, affirming community in Coquitlam where scripture is taken seriously, worship is sacramental and beautiful, and justice and mercy are part of everyday discipleship. We believe something significant is taking shape here: a community where people can bring their whole selves, ask real questions, and be drawn more deeply into the life of God.
We are now investing in dedicated ministry roles that nurture children and youth, deepen community, and strengthen our ecumenical partnership with Good Shepherd Lutheran Church through a shared youth ministry. At St. Laurence (and at Good Shepherd, for the youth role), you will not be expected to carry ministry alone. You will join a community with lay leaders, clergy, and volunteers already engaged, and offer strategic, prayerful, deeply relational leadership within that shared work.
Flexible, Bivocational-Friendly Roles
These positions are intentionally designed to work alongside other commitments. We know many gifted leaders are juggling studies, weekday work, caregiving, or creative vocations.
Role stacking (combining positions): Candidates interested in a larger part-time portfolio are welcome to explore combining roles (for example, Children & Families Minister + Children & Families Outreach Worker for approximately 18 to 20 hours/week), depending on fit and parish needs.
Designed around your life: Schedules are shaped collaboratively and can be adapted around weekday employment, school timetables, or caregiving responsibilities. These are bivocational roles; we expect most team members will also be working or studying elsewhere.

Current Opportunities
Youth Minister (St. Laurence & Good Shepherd)
Part-time, 20 hours/week | $28/hr with full benefits (pension, extended health, dental, LTD, EFAP).
Help shape our joint Anglican-Lutheran youth ministry for young people (typically grades 7 to 12), opening Scripture with them, nurturing honest faith, and building a brave, affirming community rooted in Christ and engaged with the world.
This role is well suited to someone who:
- Is energised by walking alongside teens in seasons of questioning and growth
- Is comfortable (or willing to learn) leading in liturgical and sacramental settings
- Can navigate and celebrate an ecumenical partnership between Anglican and Lutheran congregations
The Youth Minister role may also be combined with another position, depending on gifts, availability, and parish needs.
Children and Families Minister (St. Laurence)
Part-time, 10 hours/week | $28/hr.
Provide pastoral and spiritual leadership for children and their families within the worshipping life of St. Laurence, helping them encounter Jesus in Scripture, sacrament, prayer, and community.
This role is well suited to someone who:
- Loves helping children participate in worship and feel at home in church
- Can equip and support parents and caregivers in nurturing faith at home
- Is excited by intergenerational community and inclusive practices
This position can be combined with the Children and Families Outreach Worker role for approximately 18 to 20 hours/week overall.
Children and Families Outreach Worker (St. Laurence)
Part-time, 8 to 10 hours/week | $28/hr | Grant-funded (3-year diocesan initiative).
Listen to and walk alongside families in our neighbourhood, build gentle points of connection between church and community, and help us discover new ways of serving children and those who care for them.
This role is well suited to someone who:
- Enjoys community engagement, listening, and relationship-building
- Is curious about fresh expressions of church beyond Sunday mornings
- Wants to help us discern how God is already at work among families in the Tri-Cities
This position may be combined with the Children and Families Minister role for a larger part-time portfolio.
Sunday Evening Fresh Expression Pastor (St. Laurence)
Part-time, 6 to 8 hours/week | Hours and remuneration to be discussed.
Help develop a new Sunday evening worshipping community rooted in hospitality, Scripture, conversation, and prayer, especially for those whose lives do not fit traditional Sunday morning patterns but who are seeking spiritual depth and connection.
This role is well suited to someone who:
- Is drawn to creative, experimental forms of church
- Has a heart for those on the margins of traditional church life (including the de-churched and spiritually curious)
- Wants to hold together ancient practices and contemporary questions in a hospitable space
This role may also be combined with other part-time positions where there is good fit and availability.
