All Souls: An Evening of Remembering

Remembering those we love, making room for grief, and finding hope together.

St Laurence Anglican Church, Coquitlam

Grief has no timetable. Whether someone we love died recently or many years ago, their absence can still be deeply felt. Sometimes our memories bring gratitude and warmth. Sometimes they bring sadness, unanswered questions, or a mixture of feelings we find difficult to put into words.

On Sunday evening, 1 November, we invite you to join us for All Souls: An Evening of Remembering, a gentle, reflective service offering space to remember those who have died.

Through music, scripture, prayer and silence, we will give thanks for lives that have touched our own, acknowledge the many different ways we experience grief, and find comfort in the promise that God's love does not abandon us, even in death.

During the service, we will read aloud the names of those being remembered. Afterwards, everyone will be invited to light a candle in remembrance. You are equally welcome simply to remain seated and reflect quietly.

You do not need to be a regular churchgoer, or to know what you believe, to come. There is no right way to grieve, and no expectation that you should feel a particular way.

Whether you come carrying fresh sorrow, treasured memories, complicated feelings, or simply a wish to remember, there is a place for you here.

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted.”
— Psalm 34:18

All are welcome.
