Looking Ahead
Summer Drinks in the NarthexBeginning July 5, St. Laurence moves to its summer schedule: one service at 10:00 AM. As part of that change, we're keeping the conversation going afterwards with cold drinks in the Narthex. A big thank you to our faithful coffee teams, who have served us so generously through the year. This is their well-earned summer break. We're looking for one volunteer (or family) each Sunday to set up, pour, and tidy away. No dishes, no fuss: supplies will be ready and waiting in the kitchen. Just show up, be hospitable, and enjoy the company. If you'd like to take a Sunday, please sign up on the sheet in the Hall.
Gathered Together: End of Year BBQJune 28 after the 10:00 service
Senior Men's LunchThursday, June 18 at 11:30 AM Please contact the office to confirm your attendance. |

Pastoral Care Ministry
Our focus within Pastoral Care is on emotional, physical, social and spiritual support of others. St. Laurence has a rich history of helping those in need, both within the parish and the greater community. We offer quiet, respectful and confidential support by: - reaching out via phone or personal visits at home, hospital or a care facility - sending cards of support during times of illness and bereavement - delivering flowers from the altar after Sunday services - offering names for inclusion into the “Prayers of the People” for those who wish them - providing for “quiet prayers” for those who wish confidentiality How can we help you? Reach out to Rev. Philip, Rev. Carla, Curt, Anne Dennis or any member of the Pastoral Care Team. |
Pathways to Peace RetreatCreating Peace within Our Hearts, Our Relationships, Our Community, Our World Saturday, June 20, 2026, 9:30 am – 3:30 pm A day retreat exploring what it means to be peacemakers: in our hearts, our relationships, our community, and our world. The day includes prayer stations, contemplative worship, and spiritual practices. Facilitator Katherine Murray is a spiritual director and peacemaking advocate. But the guest voice is not to be missed: Esther Wilson grew up in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, lost her father to the conflict at age twelve, immigrated to Canada, and then lost her husband suddenly in 2020. Out of that accumulation of grief, she has become a profound guide in trauma and spiritual growth, bringing the kind of insight that only lived experience can give. Music is led by the Rev. David Taylor. Cost: $50, including drinks, snacks, and lunch. For more infomation visit: https://www.vancouver.anglican.ca/events/pathways-to-peace-retreat/2026-06-20

Quality Fair Fundraising Project
Tony Esposito is heading up a project to raise additional funds at the Quality Fair this November, by inviting local businesses to donate gifts, services, or certificates to be sold at the fair. Do you have a good personal relationship with a local store, restaurant, or business that might be willing to help? That kind of warm connection makes all the difference. If so, please speak to Tony after church or contact the office. |
A Petition Worth Signing: Standing with Afghan Refugees
Deadline June 12th Thousands of Afghan refugees in Pakistan are waiting for Canada to decide their fate. While they wait, they face detention, loss of legal status, and the ever-present threat of forced return to a country where they may face imprisonment or worse. Members of the Diocese involved in refugee sponsorship are asking us to add our voices to a Parliamentary petition calling on the Canadian government to act: to expedite Afghan applications, protect refugees while their cases are reviewed, increase processing capacity in Pakistan, and work with international partners to keep people safe while they wait. It takes two minutes to sign. The link is below. For more infomation visit:
